If you’ve been scrolling through RV forums or walking the lots at your local dealership, you’ve probably heard people talking about the Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf 22RR.

We have had the pleasure of using a Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf 22RR for the past few months and think it is one of the best options out there for a toy hauler. It is often called the "sweet spot" of the toy hauler world, and for good reason. It’s light enough for many half-ton trucks to pull it easily but big enough to feel like a real home on the road. If you’re a solo adventurer or a couple trying to figure out how to bring your dirt bikes or UTV along without buying a massive fifth-wheel, this might just be your rig.
The 22RR manages to cram a few features into a sub-30-foot frame that usually require a much bigger trailer. First you have a real bedroom. Most lightweight toy haulers (like the smaller 18RR) use an "open" floor plan. That means your bed is basically in the garage next to your bikes. The 22RR gives you a private front master suite. Newer models even feature a walk-around King bed. Having a door you can close is a game-changer for long-term comfort.

The next feature that is consistently a favorite for owners is the rear patio. The rear ramp door converts into a fenced-in patio that adds about 60 square feet of outdoor space where you’re off the dirt and away from the bugs, giving the unit a much larger feel when it is open.
Forest River has really upped their game in terms of creature comforts in the Cherokee Grey Wolf 22RR , it comes with the Juice Pack (200W solar) and a tankless water heater. If you’ve ever suffered through a 6-gallon RV water heater shower, you know how luxurious "endless" hot water feels. This is a game changer for me at the end of a long day on the trail.
There are no slide-outs on this model. This keeps the weight down and the price affordable, but it means that when your bikes or ATVs are loaded, the living room is "closed." You have to unload your toys before you can really hang out inside.
The kitchen in this model isn't just a place to heat up a can of soup—it’s designed to be the "command center" of your campsite. Because it lacks slide-outs, Forest River put extra effort into making the kitchen both functional and stylish so it doesn't feel like a cramped hallway.

The Cherokee Grey Wolf 22RR come with modern appliances swapping the traditional greasy RV oven for a versatile air fryer/convection microwave, which is perfect for quick, healthy meals. Standard equipment includes a 10 cubic foot refrigerator. This is a modern 12V high-efficiency residential-style fridge. It’s deeper than traditional gas/electric models, meaning you can actually fit a full week’s worth of groceries inside. It also has a massive home style pantry, it is a floor-to-ceiling space with actual shelving, so you don't have to keep your dry goods in overhead bins where they’ll rattle around during transit.
Since the "Party Deck" is the star of the show, the exterior is set up to keep the chef involved in the action. While the 22RR doesn't usually have a massive "built-in" outdoor kitchen (to save weight for your toys), it features a low-pressure LP quick-connect port. This allows you to plug a Blackstone or a portable grill directly into the trailer’s propane supply—no more carrying those little green 1lb bottles. Even without a permanent stove outside, the 22RR is designed for "patio living." You’ll find: an exterior TV bracket and hookups, bluetooth enabled outside speakers and a hot/cold outside shower, great for rinsing off muddy gear before you step inside. Finally the 22RR features a 15 foot power awning with integrated LED lighting that covers your outdoor "kitchen" and patio area, keeping you dry or providing shade and ensuring the outdoor workspace is bright at night.

The unit also features a walk-through bathroom connecting the bedroom to the living area, which is a clever use of space, but like any RV the shower can be a bit tight for larger folks.
Because the heavy garage is in the back, the trailer is designed to be "tongue-heavy" when empty to keep it from swaying. If you’re towing with a half-ton truck, don't skip the Weight Distribution Hitch. You'll want it for a smooth, safe ride.
Bottom line the Grey Wolf 22RR is the perfect "entry-level" hauler that doesn't feel cheap. With the black stainless steel farm sink, the outdoor kitchen, and that massive garage space, it’s built for people who want to spend their days on the trails and their nights in a comfortable, private bed.
