ABOUT THE OFF-ROAD TRAVEL TV CREW
We are a group of enthusiasts who share a common love for off-road adventure and world travel. We are a unique blend of storytellers, content creators, educators, moms, dads, and business owners who share the same passion. Some are private pilots, some are welders, some have worked in the magazine and television industries, some are engineers, and some are fabricators, but all of us seek adventure. Collectively we have over 35 off-road vehicles from Toyotas, Jeeps, Fords and Chevrolets to KTMs, Hondas, BMWs and more.
The overall concept of Off-Road Travel TV originated in the 1990s with the international travel of professional journalists Ken Faught and Mark Kariya. The pair, sometimes together and sometimes separately, went on off-road adventures in Australia, Costa Rica, Peru, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Canada, Mexico, Senegal, Equator and Chili, along with riding in several European countries and more than half of the United States. Their adventures were chronicled in magazines around the globe and television shows in the United States.
Fast forward 20 years, Faught and Kariya, along with Mark Mitchell, assembled a team of 10 additional world travelers and enthusiasts to start Off-Road Travel TV. Our talent pool was then broadened with an eclectic group of investor/partners who are also into two-, four-, and sometimes six-wheel fun. The idea behind Off-Road Travel TV is to create a community of enthusiasts who can share ideas and real-world experience so we can help others enjoy all facets of off-road and overland.
Each year we plan on doing three separate two-week adventures with different types of vehicles we call “Treks.” Each vehicle will be its own project and we will tell the story about each build. As a media company we also plan to showcase new products, create how-to features for maintenance and installation tips, test a wide variety of equipment, offer in-depth product evaluations, show how different vehicles and products are built, and much more.
The best way to support us and help Off-Road Travel TV grow is to subscribe to our YouTube channel, friend us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram and Tiktok. We hope you enjoy this journey!

Our goal has always been to maintain transparency within our community so you can make informed travel, purchase and other important decisions. After all, we are a media company focused on providing helpful information and effective strategies to make responsible off-road travel and recreation more enjoyable. That last part is taken directly from our Mission Statement.
But as you can imagine, it costs a lot to create the type of content and we need to generate income from somewhere, so all our media is free to you. At Off-Road Travel TV we spend a lot of money on staff, photography and video equipment, shop tools, project vehicles, computer and office equipment, travel, and everything needed to create content.
Our team believes in separation of church and state, meaning that our editorial content is always separate from advertising. Simply put, an advertiser can’t buy a favorable product review, in fact, they can’t buy a product review at all. Everyone gets the same treatment in our product reviews whether they are an advertiser/sponsor or not. We don’t want to compromise the quality of the Off-Road Travel TV brand or hurt the credibility of our staff.
Like most websites and modern media companies, we do create sponsored posts, which are different than regular editorial content. For starters, we call out that the story is a “Sponsored Post” or “Product Showcase” to let you know that we are receiving some type of compensation for the creation and or placement of a promotional piece. This method is the industry standard and is very common in today’s high tech world.
We also keep a close eye on our sponsors and advertisers to make sure that they are the type of companies we want to promote. If we believe a company doesn’t provide quality products, offers poor customer service, doesn’t do a good job with customer disputes, then we typically just ignore them.
We believe that ignoring companies and their products/services is a form of selective editing and this protects you, our viewer, and your purchasing decisions. That’s why in most cases, if we don’t think a product is worth purchasing, we simply won’t cover that product in favor of products and services where you will benefit most. This allows us to focus on what works, instead of what does not work.
In addition to paid advertising and sponsored posts, we also may receive money from Affiliate Marketing programs including companies like Amazon, but not all companies. This is where the companies pay us a commission to drive traffic to their websites and, for the most part, it’s done by linking off our site to their site. There is absolutely no cost to you, and we make money only when the product is purchased. This is also how most influencers make money. Sometimes, but not all the time, this may include a discount code that can be applied at the checkout of online shopping.
Some of our owners, investors and content creators may also have an ownership interest in or even serve as an Officer, Board of Directors member or Managing Member of companies that are promoted within our various media platforms. Take Ken Faught for example. Not only is he the co-founder of Off-Road Travel TV, but he also co-founded and is a significant stakeholder in Speed & Sport Adventures, Studio 38, Soda Jerk, and Pacific Tonic & Spirits. Some of Ken’s companies do everything from consulting and product design to business development and graphic design. Ken and his companies also do photo/video shoots and production for other brands along with website creation, content production and much more. Most of this has nothing to do with Off-Road Travel TV, but for transparency purposes, we want to make sure it’s very clear.
Jake Mottram co-owns off-road installation and retail company Cali-Raised Off-Road and Nick Morgan co-owns RV Ready. These are just a few examples, but no doubt there are others, so take note. It’s also these companies that have helped give our staff the expertise in these various fields that helps you in your pursuit for quality products.
It's also safe to assume that we make money on all our own Off-Road Travel TV branded merchandise such as t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, coffee mugs, etc., We sincerely hopes this helps and provides ore clarity on our team and the many factors that go into our content creation. For questions about transparency, please email Mark@OffRoadTravelTV.com
